About KAIRO

KAIRO is a utility management service that helps Nashville residents find, set up, and track the utilities that serve their home. These Terms of Service govern your use of the KAIRO website and related services. By using KAIRO, you agree to these terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of, or planning to move to, the Nashville metropolitan area to use KAIRO. By creating an account, you represent that this is true.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your KAIRO login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@kairo-us.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

What KAIRO does

KAIRO acts as an information and setup assistant. We help you identify utility providers, and let you connect existing accounts for bill monitoring. Specifically:

  • KAIRO does not make payments or charge your utility account on your behalf.
  • KAIRO provides step-by-step guides and links to each provider’s own signup page. You complete new-service signups yourself, directly with the provider; KAIRO does not submit signups on your behalf. Provider details may change, so always verify current information on the provider’s website.
  • When you connect an existing NES, Metro Water, or Piedmont Natural Gas account, you provide your login credentials voluntarily. KAIRO uses those credentials once to complete the connection, then permanently deletes them. For NES and Metro Water, KAIRO also registers its own separate, read-only login to your account to check your bill status going forward; this is disclosed in and governed by our Privacy Policy. For Piedmont, you may choose whether KAIRO keeps your own login for this purpose, using the optional "Keep my login for active billing checks" setting, which is off by default.
  • KAIRO creates forwarding email addresses (relay mailboxes) to receive mail from your utility providers on your behalf. This is a read-only monitoring service.
  • KAIRO lets you create share links and invite other people to view, not edit, an address’s utilities and bills. Anyone who receives a share link can view the bill snapshot it contains without creating a KAIRO account. Invited household members get standing view-only access until you remove them.

Account linking and credentials

By submitting your utility credentials to KAIRO to connect an existing account, you:

  • Authorize KAIRO to sign in to your utility account on your behalf for the sole purpose of adding a read-only shared user (your KAIRO relay mailbox).
  • Acknowledge that your credentials are transmitted over an encrypted connection, used once for the linking process, and then permanently deleted. For NES and Metro Water, you separately authorize KAIRO to register and hold its own read-only login to your account after the connection completes, for the purpose of checking your bill status; see our Privacy Policy for how that login is stored and secured.
  • Confirm that you are the account holder or are otherwise authorized to grant this access.

You may revoke KAIRO’s read access at any time by removing the shared user from your utility account directly on the provider’s website.

Sharing and household members

You may generate share links for an address you manage and invite other people to join it as household members. You are responsible for who you share a link with or invite. Anyone holding a share link can view the bill snapshot it contains without creating a KAIRO account. Household members you invite get standing, view-only access to that address’s utilities and bills and agree to these Terms when they view or join a shared address. You can revoke a share link or remove a member’s access at any time from your dashboard.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use KAIRO for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation.
  • Provide false or misleading information, including providing credentials for accounts you do not own.
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to KAIRO’s systems.
  • Use KAIRO to scrape, harvest, or collect information about other users.

Service availability

We aim to keep KAIRO available around the clock, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, suspend, or discontinue features or the service as a whole with reasonable notice where possible.

Disclaimer of warranties

KAIRO is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or that provider information will always be current or accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KAIRO and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. On termination, we will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of KAIRO after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
